Natural Product Biosynthesis
The team is experienced in investigating the mechanism of natural product biosynthesis, and applying combinatorial biosynthesis and enzyme technology for the production of natural products including polyketides (PKS), non-ribosomal peptides (NRPS), terpenoids and their derivatives from hybridization, post-translation and glycosylation.
One pathway is to develop enzyme toolboxes to catalyze the transformation of chemicals in vitro and the other is to construct multi-enzyme systems to make chemicals via cell factory through integration of metabolic engineering and strain engineering. Our collaborators include a number of institutes and universities both domestic and overseas.
